SDGs Hakone Kowakien Hotel’s SDGs Initiatives
As part of Hakone Kowakien Hotel’s SDG initiatives, we are doing what we can to reduce our environmental impact, including recycling and reusing, as well as using eco-friendly materials in our uniforms.
Major Initiatives
We reduce our environmental impact by using lumber grown in Kanagawa Prefecture for our front counter, the cedar decorative pillars in the lobby, louver fixtures, and other details.
We reduce our environmental impact by using lumber grown in Kanagawa Prefecture for the interiors of our saunas.
We reused the distinctive hollow decorative blocks of the former Hakone Kowakien Hotel as artwork installed behind the front desk. This reduces our environmental impact.
Our uniforms are designed to lightweight and stretchy to ensure that they are comfortable to wear. The jackets and trousers are made of eco-friendly materials (plant-derived yarn and yarn recycled from plastic bottles), making them compliant with the SDGs. They are designed with a unisex appearance in pursuit of gender equality.
The sommelier aprons worn by restaurant staff are made using eco-friendly materials, such as coffee beans.
The flower vase on display in the lobby is made from Hakone Kowakien Hotel clay and crafted by a Shigaraki-ware potter.
